Team Dynamic Discs – Emporia

In 2022, Emporia, Kansas was the site of 2 huge events – including the 20th annual Dynamic Discs Open and 41st PDGA Worlds Championship. Both events stem from the vision of local touring pro, Eric McCabe, who is the course designer for disc golf at Emporia Country Club. Originally the annual event was known for well crafted glass blown trophies, hence the early reference as Glass Blown Open.

Best friends, Eric McCabe and Gabe Werly launched what would become plans for the ‘big event.’ Working hard and staying dedicated to the dream of turning this long running Emporia B-Tier event into a popular A-Tier destination.

Over the nearly 2 decades, and counting, Glass Blown Open’s popularity exceeded McCabe’s wildest dreams, while putting Emporia squarely on the map as holding the largest disc golf event in the world. As of 2020, “GBO” has been dropped from name of the tournament, as Dynamic Disc Open took over. And still, the tournament atmosphere remains the same level of great fun, as the player experience continues to evolve, dynamically.

Returning TD, Jackie Morris will readily convey it is the local community and cast of dozens who make the contemporary event a long running success. Local volunteers are what make Dynamic Disc Open run smoothly. Having a well established sponsor is what gives the event solid recognition. And lead team members bring experience and know how to the ongoing success. This lead team includes:

The city celebrates in the affair, and if working up an appetite for some good eats in town, TD Jackie suggests any of the following:
