Team LVC Launches 2023 Elite DG Season

Every year, in this millennium, elite disc golf professionals flock to Las Vegas. They come for the weather, stay for the Elite Series event, and kick off another magical season of the pro tour.

And every year, Team LVC is devoting hundreds of hours, and many months in preparing, then building, a prestigious event. The 2022 LVC was 3rd largest combined field on tour, behind Worlds and Ledgestone. And that’s for MPO (118) combined with FPO (60). Then add the 350 players from concurrent A-tier event, and well over 500 players, make up this world-class tournament.

January 22nd and 23rd, 2000 the Gentlemen’s Club Challenge played it’s first C-tier event in Vegas. It was just small enough, and early enough for there not to be an FPO division. The MPO division had 12 players, with M. Cloyes the highest rated at 977. He won, by 1 stroke, with a final hot round, of 65.

The TD in 2000: Jeff Jacquart.

Jump (far) ahead to Feb. 22nd, 2018, 2 years after the event moved from Sunset Park to Wildhorse Golf Club, and LVC is the updated name. 164 players in MPO, and 24 in FPO. That year’s winners were Eagle McMahon and Paige Pierce.

The TD in 2018: Jeff Jacquart

For the 2023 LVC, there’s a new Tournament Director, and longtime Team LVC Lead, Jessica Jacquart. The 2023 program guide lists Scott Merritt as co-TD. Because the approach for LVC lead staff has always been about teamwork.

Prominent connections with Innova, Wildhorse Golf Course, Factory Store, and DGPT have clearly elevated LVC’s stature. That’s Lead Team members making that happen. Yet, Jeff, Jessica and Scott will be the first to note that it’s the nearly 100 volunteers each year that make the event truly successful, and run as smoothly as Team LVC continues to deliver.

LVC is now a world class pro disc golf event. Playing on 135 acres of property, with 3 courses, a player warm-up area, spectator arena, media area, VIP lounge and grand vendor tent, or mall for disc golfers.

2024 marks the silver anniversary for the event. And Team LVC knows it. Always moving forward. While kicking off the magic of the pro tour.
