Continuing on the Power Rankings train, similar to previous months’ updates. AF Power Rankings continue as combination of the 2 divisions, and highly relevant to fantasy disc golf. Here is criteria that went into this ranking:
- 2023 Elite (ES) average – 10 events thru the Preserve, minimum of just 3 Elite events played to count for this list
- 2023 Champ Cup: notes finishing place for only other major in 2023
- Latest weekly ranking
- Last 5 EMSA average – equals any Elite, Major, and Silver events played in 2023, along with a few prominent A tier events. The color here depicts what tier their last 5 avg is at. If the tier matches color on the AF-PR column, for any tier, that’s where they are playing recently. If it doesn’t match, that means the player is trending down.
- How many events each is playing over next 4 – through Ledgestone
- Player averages at upcoming events – not noted, but is a factor for power ranking
This Power Rankings update ignores players playing just 1 fantasy relevant event, or less. This means otherwise strong players are not included. Here are notable names not included, and why:
- Hailey King (previously 9th) – plays just 1 event
- Ohn Scoggins (prev UR) – plays 1 event
- Simon Lizotte (prev 19) – plays 1 event
- Jen Allen (prev 11) – plays 1 event
- Evan Smith (prev 21) – play 1 event
- Macie Velediaz (prev 15) – plays 1 event
- Adam Hammes (prev 25) – numbers on upcoming events not good
- and Paige Pierce – was ranked 3rd on this (July) list until news of her serious injury. Get well Paige!
The next 4 events include 2 Elite events, 1 Major and 1 Silver. In order they are: PCS, European Open, MAO and Ledgestone. Players with the better average at upcoming events are generally given higher power ranking than those playing all 4, hence why Tattar is ahead of Heimburg. Kristin plays just 2 of the 4, yet is close to home, and remain’s AF’s #1 player overall, likely to finish in top 2 in most events she plays.
