Welcome to the new and improved AF Power Rankings. This added ranking list started in early July 2022, heading into Idlewild. AF Power Rankings have always combined the 2 divisions, and have always stayed relevant to fantasy disc golf.

Previous Power Rankings, on the website, were a list of who’s most likely to net fantasy points, based partly on latest (weekly) rankings and partly how they fared over the last 3 to 5 Elite Series or Major events. In 2023, there is already enough event data to go on, though Power Rankings will no longer be based only on recent / past data.

All players on the tables below have been considered based on the following:

• their 2023 adjusted average (see below)
• their latest weekly ranking
• their 2022 Silver Series average, now that this is part of some 2023 fantasy leagues
• their upcoming averages for Music City Open (ES) and Texas State Championships (SS)
• and how many of the next 4 events, 2 SS and 2 ES, they are playing

The order of this particular Power Ranking has been carefully considered. For whatever that’s worth.

Of the 36 players listed in this Power Ranking, all but 3 of them are playing in at least 3 of the next 4 events, which are: Austin, Texas State, MCO, Blue Ridge. Austin is ES, and has no recent data to help shape upcoming averages, but Texas State (SS in 2023, was ES in 2022) and MCO (ES in 2023, was SS in 2023) both do. The 3 players playing less than 3, are each playing 2 of the next 4 events, and their division indicator is colored in red.

Adjusted 2023 average is taking into account up to 6 events, which includes the 2 wrap-around, Silver Series events (from end of 2022), 2 ES events in 2023, and Memorial or Concho -which were the same weekend. Both of those events had strong enough fields to warrant them as fantasy relevant, in AF’s view. Most a player could play is 5, and most any on the list below have played is 4 of them.

Notable names not on this Power Ranking include: Paul McBeth, Jen Allen, and Cale Leiviska – and the rationale is each of these 3 are slated to play only 1 of the next 4 events. If the list went to 40, these 3 would be 37, 38 and 39 in the rankings. Drew Gibson has the 5th best adjusted average in MPO as of mid March 2023, and yet is not playing in any of the 4 events coming up, so is unranked.

Finally, the added color is another way the AF ranking lists are all around improved. They make for prettier content, and also added data layering. In general, color on any columns with numbers is both meaningful, and mostly a good thing. Better to have color than not. See our Color’s Guide for additional considerations.
